Ernesto Muñiz is a Mexican artist who does collage and street art. His collages include images from pop culture and religion and use the elements of art. He turns his collages into street art by pasting them in the streets of Mexico. Muñiz’s recent interpretation of the Virgin Mary reflects our current situation with the pandemic. In the piece he takes the immaculate heart of Mary and makes a collage where her heart is the virus and she’s wearing a gas mask. I think it shows the fear we all have and the hope we need.
