QimmyShimmy

QimmyShimmy is a 26 year old artist from Singapore. She describes herself as a lover of things creepy and cute which her art definetly reflects. Her sculptures are parts of the human body or baby faces made creepy. I liker her art style and I also enjoy the cute creepiness about it. I like how she uses muted colors and also make them look realistic.

  1. I think anatomy is very interesting and love how Qimmyshimmy worked with it, however, I feel that this art is more about the shock value of body parts being food. It's a really funny and crude choice of subject matter that you can do a lot with.

  2. From what I've seen I really like QimmyShimmy's work. I think it's really original, I've never seen anything quite like it before, but it feels so easy to look at like I have seen things like it before\. I like how strange it is and how it's not really being flashy about how strange it is, her work is almost flawless and that adds an amount of beauty. I also really like how simplistic and neutral all of her work is.

  3. I really love this! The idea of combing something "cute" like pies and cakes to things that are less cute and more "creepy"! It is something new that I would like to look into! The color choice of the piece makes it look cute, but also creepy at the same time, though through the use of the same red tones (super interesting!) I really love the pie, pill, and cake piece! It really conveys that idea. The colors used are very limited, but it represents both aspect at the same time, like blood, meat, but also a playful pink! Cool artist!

  5. Woah, these are super gross and cool at the same time. The piece of the babies in the pill cases seems to have a dark meaning behind it which gave me the shivers. I love the cutesy-pink atmosphere that goes along with every piece despite the gory subject matter.

  6. I think very few people ever make food into this shape, and this artist is very thoughtful, unlike other artists, is not afraid to try to make these remarkable food.

  7. Woah! I never thought something so creepy could be portrayed as "cute", but she depicts natural parts of the human body with such detail and precision, that it is realistic and unrealistic at the same time. I love how she uses nude, natural tones to create something fictional, but realistic.
