Johannes Vermeer

Vermeer was born in 1632 and baptized in Delft.Vermeer tended to paint very peaceful household scenes from a middle class life, with a few portraits and landscapes. Today there are 34 paintings attributed to him and three more that are questionable. It is also suggested that there are six more of his paintings were lost or wrongly attributed. Vermeer used very expensive pigments for his work and his style was very realistic.
