Judy Chicago
Judy Chicago
Judy Chicago is an American artist and writer. She is best known for her large art installation pieces and for founding the first feminist art program in America. Her piece The Dinner Party took her five years to complete. It is a large triangle, measuring 48 ft by 43 ft by 36 ft and has 39 place settings. Each place commemorates a historical or mythical female figure. She used the help of over 400 people, mostly women, to create the piece, using needlework and sculpture. I believe that the materials add to the meaning of the work because most women used to stay home all day do housework and needlework or sewing.
