Francisco Goya was a Spanish painter born in 1746.  Goya was a court painter and painted Rococo style tapestries for the royal palace. He was sick and his work slowly became darker. Most of his later paintings had a political theme. He painted during the romantic era which his paintings reflected by being very emotional and having a horror theme.
